Hello. My name is Kjaer (care). I look forward to having the opportunity to work in your school as a Fine Art Teacher. I have a real passion for art and for teaching. Your students will benefit from my expertise, my enthusiasm, and my true joy of experiencing young people creating THEIR art!
I was born an artist. I would draw anything. I drew cartoons as I watched them, and drew portraits from a very early age. Anything creative and I simply lost all sense of time and space.
As an academic student, and a dancer, I left my artistic pursuits for many years. I learned, though, that I am happiest when I create... I love to share that joy!
I have been a teacher for 30 years. I have taught from Grade 1 to 12, including having the honour to be head teacher in First Nation Alternate Schools in Vancouver for many years. For the last 9 years, I taught ART exclusively and, with the Advanced Placement Program, I very successfully worked with numerous secondary students to earn University Credit in 2D, Drawing, and 3D Design.
I received the Muse Award in Mission as Visual Artist. I have been the Artist In Residence in Maple Ridge for the past number of years. I hope you notice that I am a local home business. I began a very successful one of a kind clothing line and was always honoured to be juried into every high end Art Show that I applied for.
I miss working with young people, and I miss teaching ART.
I am back as an Art Instructor because, through the Maple Ridge Arts Centre, and as the Artist In Residence, I have been returning to teaching elementary school art and absolutely loving it! Through this program, I met a teacher who was the mother of one of my after school art students. She told me about another artist in Surrey who is working in schools. I called up Joanne at saltwaterstudios.com and she was SO giving and informative. She welcomed me using her expertise in this field. Joanne is fully booked each year, and she books the classes at the beginning of June for the following year.
"Creativity is contagious, pass it on" - as quoted by Albert Einstein - and I intend to pass it on. I will be donating a portion of my fees to the Arts Centre in the city I work in. I will suggest that they might want to use this donation in their many art courses as a gift to a young person who may not be able to easily afford a class, and/or to add this money to their Scholarship Fund to support a graduating art student in our community. Remember to check your local Arts Centre for their art classes.
Thank you for your interest. I look forward to talking to YOU... 604-612-6070.. or email … [email protected] Please call immediately to set up a day of instruction, so that you won't be disappointed, for this school year. Space is quite limited already. Remember, too, that I am also available for Professional Development, and I would be pleased to offer after school classes as well, to students and or their parents.
